The Spa and Ayurvedic Retreat, a resort in itself, provides a comprehensive approach to physical, spiritual and mental well-being, with a special emphasis on yoga and ayurveda. Secluded open-air treatment areas make the lush tropical setting an integral part of the relaxation and treatment process.
The spa complex:
Located in the heart of the island and stretching down to sea, the spa complex occupies an elevated 1-hectare (2.5-acre) site, with 10 individual thatched treatment pavilions – four over water, three in a lush garden setting and three in the Ayurvedic Retreat. Set over crystal waters, each water pavilion has an attached steam room and deep bath that overlooks the ocean, while each garden treatment villa has a steam room and outdoor shower. Guests aged 16 and above are welcome to enjoy our spa treatments.
Yoga at the Resort is a magical experience. Our resident yogi guides beginners and experienced followers through inspiring morning meditation and evening enlightenment sessions from a pavilion that "floats" on the sea. Private sessions are available, and the yogi welcomes all guests for discussions on this ancient spiritual practice.
Situated within the spa complex, the Ayurvedic Retreat, a first for Four Seasons, is designed to stimulate its guests into thinking about, experimenting with and understanding the fundamental philosophical approach to ayurveda. The Resort has worked closely with experts from nearby Kerala, India, to ensure this ancient science of life has been successfully transported to the Maldives. These experienced Keralan and Sri Lankan therapists and ayurvedic physicians are highly trained professionals in ayurveda, including diet, body type, patient approach and the practice of yoga and meditation.
Savour the tastes of Asia, sample Lebanese and Moroccan fare in a rooftop setting, dine on Italian as lagoon and ocean views stretch into the distance or enjoy the day's catch or organic meats poolside.
One small island rarely brings so much of the world to your plate.
Al Barakat Restaurant:
Named after Abu Al Barakat Yusuf Al Barbari, a North African scholar who made Baa Atoll his home in the 12th century, Al Barakat serves authentic Arabian cuisine. The restaurant is built over water, off the main jetty. A shisha bar is located on the ground level. The main dining area on the rooftop features comfortable low seating.
Café Landaa Restaurant:
Overlooking the swimming pool and beach, the three thatched-roofed pavilions of Café Landaa are separated by reflecting ponds. For breakfast, lunch and dinner, our chefs create exquisite delights with eastern and western influences.
Fuego Grill Restaurant:
Located adjacent to the seawater pool and overlooking the eastern coast of the island, Fuego Grill is open for dinner. The restaurant offers fresh catch of the day as well as a wide selection of organic and prime cut meats, salads, sandwiches and Asian dishes from an open kitchen pavilion. Teak tables and chairs are set in the sand facing the sea.
Located at the western end of the island overlooking a 2-kilometre (1.2-mile) lagoon, Blu embraces the essence of the Maldives as the place where the ocean meets the sky. From the restaurant pavilion on one side or the Blu Bar pavilion on the other, you can watch the sun sink below the horizon. The restaurant serves light antipasti, pizza and pasta during the day and fine Italian cuisine in the evening.
Take the short seawalk to one of the most relaxed decks in the Maldives. At Seabar, you'll laze on comfortable cushions as you sip our signature frozen margaritas and snack on tapas-style share plates and light bites – all while admiring the lemon sharks and reef fish in the turquoise waters below.
In the casual sand-floor setting of Blu Bar, enjoy exotic juices, tropical cocktails or a refreshing young coconut. As the sun sets, an aperitif or glass of sparkling Prosecco is the perfect prelude to an Italian dinner next door at Blu.
Perched over the lagoon by the main jetty, Al Barakat's Shisha Bar is open to the sea, with curtained sofas and ornate lanterns – an atmospheric setting for pre-dinner drinks or Turkish coffee and shisha pipes.
Enjoy panoramic views of the Indian Ocean from the Poolside Bar. Wine, cocktails and refreshing tropical drinks are served throughout the day, as well as salads and light fare.
Five Degrees North:
The Resort's casual bar is named for the island's location, which lies five degrees north of the equator. Its nautically inspired décor features a dhoni (traditional boat) as the counter, with a pool table and selection of board games for entertainment. The bar also has an extensive drinks selection.

The accommodation consists of water bungalows and beach villas all of which are perfect and luxurious. On arrival you have your own check in staff member to meet and greet you. check in is quick and easy, then your taken to you're accommodation, outside of which are your own personal bicycles to use during the stay.....these are a real treat, they even have your initials engraved on wooden blokes on the front of the bikes. We truly enjoyed cycling around this charismatic island whether that be to check out the sun set from the blue restaurant and sand bank peninsula or having an afternoon cocktail on the deck over hanging the sea lying on soft cushions.Read full review
Food was excellent, with plenty of choice.....the freshest and tastiest of fish and sea food to the most perfectly cooked cuts of meat. Each villa had a private walled area with a quaint garden gate leading to a sandy path through a garden full of foliage. This lead to an amazing outside living space with comfortable sofa and chairs, table, lamps and dining area. There is a beautiful wooden spiral stair case leading to an upper level with large bed and hammock looking out to sea "heaven".
We had our own private pool about 10 metres long and 2 wide with sun loungers aside and a Cotten draped gazebo with double sun bed, what more could you want.
Inside has an extremely large bedroom, living and tv area with a dressing area and extremely large bathroom with an overflow bath over 6 ft long. Every last detail has been thought about with care to ensure you have the most amazing holiday. The staff are a true credit to four seasons - we were amazed at how most of the staff address us by our names even though we had not seen them previously. We were constantly greeted with smiles and good mornings while cycling the sany paths or strolling the beach. The staff "all of them" are the friendliest I have ever met. Im sure it could be easy to create a luxurious island hideaway in the maldives, there are lots of them however the people who work at Landaa four seasons are special people and they truly are the secret to delivering an unforgettable experience. Thank you all so very much for caring, smiling and making our holiday as special as we felt you are.

Set in a protected reserve, you can see the horizon underwater its so clear. Peace tranquility and bare-foot ultra-luxury. Impeccable service, picture perfect peppersoft sand filters through your toes while the fresh lobster is cooked to perfection in Blu, just the coolest beach restaurant on the planet. We enjoyed the seaplane flight, low flying 1000' over the islands randomly sprinkled across the china blue seas. Our Beach villa was the stuff of legend, in the heart of everything yet totally secluded and private. Our own lap pool, breeze house, villa, private beach and garden...all just for us! Everything you ever dreamed the Maldives could be is perfected in this magical place. We loved the champagne touch onboard the resorts motor yacht, dolphin spotting at sunset....highly recommended and surprisingly great value. Swim with 4m Manta rays and share a cocktail in the evening with the FS sponsored marine conservationists. Housekeeping, waiting staff, consierge and management were perfect, genuine friendliness and helpfulness is infectious. The food's fab, the cool blue overwater bar intoxicating and the spa treatments set in paradise. Honeymooners, flashpackers, young families and 'holiday-of-a-lifetimers' all just blend in to harmony. The reef is on hand, watersports on tap and cocktails brought to you. We're taking friends next time.Read full review

The rocky start - having been to a resort in the maldives that required sea plane travel before, we knew that to maximize our time in the resort we had to catch the earliest sea plane to the resort. This process took an inexplicably long amount of time to arrange as email response from hotel took 2 to 3 days. After about two weeks, we were finally given email assurance that we would be given a place on the first available sea plane of the day. With this in hand we decided to take on the additional expense of arriving a day early and staying at a hotel on male.
Having arrived at the Male, the concierge there informed us to our utter dismay that our flight to four seasons was arranged for 2pm meaning that we would arrive on Baa at around 5 (island time). Frantic calls to the four seasons to rectify this did not yield results as we were told that this was the first available flight. Being experienced travelers to the Maldives we did not believe that this was the first flight and this was confirmed when we arrived at the seaplane lounge, enquiries revealed that the first flight had departed at around 10 am. We then made a complaint to the resort manager.
Needless to say we arrived at the resort in a surly state and were not in the mood accept the apologies of the Manager, Babu who had come to meet us at the pier. Slowly though, the magic of the island and the resort ebbed away all ill will allowing our fantasy holiday to begin in earnest.
The room, sorry villa, was thoughtfully appointed (island style) with the bed facing huge windows that revealed a never ending sea of turquoise. It also had a 2 storey balcony, large lounge, walk in wardrobe and bathroom, oh the bathroom! measured around 5 x 2m with his and her sinks with amenities were from a high end toiletries brand.
The resort facilities were all top notch. Dining in a resort is always a concern on island resorts is always a concern as guests are captive audiences, but the restaurants on the resort left us feeling that the meals were not only delicious, but represented good value despite the high end prices. Even the daily breakfast was exceptional, serving the best pancakes i've had anywhere
As great as the facilities and dining were, what made our stay in the four seasons memorable was service that sets the standard we call "world class". Some examples: By the second day, the various staff we interacted with from managers to buggy drivers not only referred to us by name but were also aware of previous and current days itinerary, "Mr. Lim you are having massage later today, what time should I pick you up? And how was your night dive yesterday?"; the waiters were knowledgeable were not only of the food in their restaurant but of cuisine in general, I remember having a discussion about truffle season in Alba with the shift leader in Blu; My fiancee of course struck up a relationship with the young lady behind the counter of the island shop and wrote her a letter of appreciation the day before we left, to our pleasant surprise, she left a hand wrapped gift in our room the the day of our check out with a card saying that she was sorry she was not there to give us the gift personally as she had a meeting off the island, a gift that had a retail price over usd50; finally as service recovery for the sea plane faux pas, we were offered a half day stay on the resorts sister resort near the airport by Babu. "World class".
Thanks to all on the resort and dive center (I didn't forget you Mehmet) for making our stay .... Perfect.

We already knew about the excellent service: we try to choose FS whenever we travel to exotic places since the Four Seasons service we consider to be the top 1 in the world. The island itself is an amazing preserve of nature and local architecture: villas are lost inside the dense green jungle of palm trees, birds are heard through the leaves (and can wake you in the morning with their chirping sound :-), flowers are everywhere, the water is pristine clean and warm (being a Mediterranean, I would personally prefer it somewhat cooler, though) and the reef ... AMAZING !!Read full review
I took the Open Water Diver PADI diploma there: the dive team was very professional, very friendly and guided me through all dives in a warm, yet serious way. The rich sea fauna is NOT to be missed: manta rays, turtles, barracudas, smaller fish of every imaginable colour, corals that rise and fall like roses, a dreamlike experience.
The staff was always very nice, tried to cater for all our needs and, even when they made some short slips, they were fast enough to correct them with a smile and a nice gesture. The BLU restaurant serves very good italian fare for dinner (the eggplant parmiggiano is very well executed and I know how difficult it is to cook an eggplant correctly !), breakfast buffet is of an amazing variety, the seaside bar over the jetty is unique !
If I only had to make a negative comment somewhere, it would be for the final bill which should be more detailed, so that all different charges appear clearly with taxes and GST shown separately. When we asked about it, of course, the manager on duty very quickly explained everything.
All in all, this is a magical place to visit at least once in your life !

Every one of the reviews on Trip Advisor praising this resort is correct and probably understating how amazing the place and staff are. Whilst I write this review I realise that there are no words that can truly capture the atmosphere and experience of this magical place. The resort is well organised and caters for those who want a lot to do or do very little. We also found that as a same sex couple we were made to feel so welcome there was absolutely no distinction and during our entire trip were made to feel completely comfortable and cared for. Whilst we were there we made full advantage of all that the island and resort has to offer. Firstly I would say that the service of every single member of staff is some of the best I have ever experienced. They ethos of the management team clearly imbibes a sense of pride in the work that the entire team carries out. There will be some special mentions but over all we could not fault the level of service at every point. A particularly nice touch are the bicycles provided to every guest with their initials on the front, a real practical idea for getting around (just don't forget to drive on the left), they will also take them back for you if you have had one too many cocktails at the sea bar for the feeding of the sharks! It was also so nice to see how much the Four Seasons is doing to preserve the natural resources and habitat as well as support and educate the local community this really makes you feel like your money is being well spent in many ways. We stayed in a beach bungalow which is both spacious and luxurious but affords an amazing amount of privacy. The room was spotlessly clean and well maintained. There really was nothing that was wanting. My only slight suggestion for improvement is to place a little spot light above the door so you can see the key to open the door on return back at night. The small private pool is a perfect addition for a last dip before bed. I would recommend one night of in villa dining whilst watching the sea. With these bungalows there is not really direct access to the sea but the little private beach is an ideal place to relax before heading for a pre dinner cocktail.Read full review
The food selection and quality is out of this world and there is nothing that the staff will not do. While were there we ate in 3 of the 4 resort restaurants all of which were amazing. A special mention to the Blu restaurant and Eddy and his team, we would definitely recommend the Monday lobster night a real experience. The breakfast at Cafe Landaa with was amazing and again service was top notch. The Fueggo Grill was an ideal place for a romantic evening on the beach listening to the waves lap at the shore. A must is the managers cocktails on a Sunday evening what a great way to meet this fantastic management team and other guest but the canapés are lovely to!! I would highly recommend the theme nights in Cafe Landaa both for extent of selection and quality of food really not to be missed..
The dive centre and recreation is fantastic and the staff there amazing. We would definitely recommend the fishing trip and don't forget to go onto the roof of the traditional Maldivian Dhoni to see the most fantastic night sky I have ever seen. Another highlight was the hi-life cruise on a luxury yacht drinking champagne fantastic experience especially if you are lucky enough to have the companionship of some playful Mantas which we did. There is no experience like swimming with the majestic manta ray and the manta on call system is a fantastic idea and one opportunity of a life time, Finally a must is a consultation with Dr Shylesh the resident Ayuvedic doctor some very interesting insight is provided definitely something to experience. The spa is amazing as again are all the staff a really credit to Lucy who has an amazing team. It is always worth a stop in the morning after breakfast just to have some cold tea which was unbelievably good.
I am sure that I could write a thesis on how wonderful this resort is but have no doubt already bored many of you already. This may not be the cheapest option but I would say that it is worth every single penny and an experience that you will not forget but also have you looking to book the next holiday before you leave.
Some special mentions to staff who were outstanding and a credit to the resort and Four Seasons in General Blu Restruant – Eddy, Shareef, Asif, Lyndon, Agus, Joe, Hari and the whole Blu team particularly Fuat who makes a mean cocktail. Caffe Landaa – Jenni, Shine and Jeremy (keep up the drumming) & chef Philo Sea bar – Wajdee who is a real jewel in the crown at the resort thank you for the suggestion about Maldivian Fish was amazing Front of House – lovely Adam & Fazym (spelling) who never stopped smiling and of course the amazing Matthew Huie who made every minute of our stay magical. Spa – Dr Shylesh, Natasha (sorry spelling not correct), Kerchell (sorry spelling again) Recreation – Captain Hassem, both little and big Hasan, Abo and the fantastic apprentice Naan Diving – Kerstin who particularly made our stay diving the most amazing experience.
There were many more whose faces I can see in my mind eye but can't remember all the names and who all contributed to make our week on this magical island something that we will remember for the rest of our lives.
Well done and we can't wait to come back see you next year!!!
